I finally was able to find a copy of Book 7 of the Queen Betsy series by MaryJanice Davidson (Undead and Unworthy); I have been trying to find a copy of this book at a reasonable price since it came out in hard cover in 2008. So, it has taken me 1 1/2 years to finally find a copy, though it was paperback, so I could continue with the story.
The author had advised that she was going to take the series into a different direction; that it would be a little darker. I read some reviews of this book before I bought it. To be honest with you – hooray for the turn! Because I was getting more than a little sick of Betsy and her cranky attitude. She was always complaining and picking a fight with her husband to be, Eric and I never could figure out why he could even stand her! Then I read the Fred the Mermaid series by Davidson and she herself noted that one draft of those novels was like “Betsy the Mermaid.” (Sorry but…Fred did seem a whole lot like Betsy)
Anyway, I digress. I started out loving this “Undead – Vampire Queen Betsy” series, and was honestly getting a little tired of it by Book 6. So, for those of you who feel the same way, rejoice! This book was pretty entertaining, and it was nice to see Betsy and Eric seemingly working together instead of fighting. So if you are a fan of the series and was about ready to give it up like I was, do not fear! Undead and Unworthy was very worthy of a read.
