So I, like many … well probably most everyone now that the jerks have bought Countrywide … owe BOA money. I have a credit card account with them.

Last year, when I had a zero balance, they sent me an awesome transfer balance offer. So I transferred a balance, wrote my check out for my first payment two weeks before it was due, stuck it in my purse - then forgot to mail it. I figured this out on the day the payment was due, but the jerks wouldn’t let me schedule a payment for that day, but the next day.

Needless to say, they went up on my interest rate after ONE month and ONE DAY late payment. I called them and yes…it was my fault because I forgot the payment. Nothing I would say, no pointing out that I had consistently paid my bill whenever there was a balance - would work. They would not budge. So - I immediately transferred that balance and swore “never again.”

I got another offer a few months ago for 3.99 until this summer. So I decided to give them another try. All payments being made and of course, my plan is to transfer the remaining balance again after they go up in the summer. My payment this month was due on February 18. President’s Day.

I go online to schedule a payment for February 18, but the asshole’s system would NOT let me pick that date because it was a holiday. Keep in mind - my bank was OPEN that day. So I had to schedule it for the 19th, and my thought was, it will be okay.

I just had my next bill emailed to me and the bastards not only CHARGE ME a freaking $39.00 late fee, they went up on my interest rate to 20.49%. AUGH. They have a customer service 24/7 number that I call. It immediately tells me all their systems are down and they won’t be able to answer any questions, but to stay on the line if I still want to talk to a customer service representative. So I stayed on the line.

After the automated system put me on hold, a live person picked up and said something along the lines of “We are very sorry but our computer system is currently down, and we are unable to answer any questions. Please call back later.” CLICK.

I call back, go thru the same speech, but this time when the live person gets on the line I interrupt her and ask will she not hang up on me. She acts all offended and tells me no. So I go into why I am calling - I tried to schedule a payment for the 18th, their website wouldn’t let me do it, my bank was open that day, now I am getting a late fee and higher interest. She tells me the computers are down and she can’t help. I ask her, “Can you take the information down, my account number, look into it and have someone call me back?” She repeats the little speech about the computers being down. By then, I’m pissed and I’ll admit it. “You mean to tell me you don’t have a paper and pen to write down my information so someone can check into this?” Oh, and here’s the kicker, her response: “No, I’m telling you I am not going to take your information down.”

I’m totally hot by now. “Okay, then what did you say your name was again?” CLICK.

OMG. You can imagine the names going thru my head at this point.

I call AGAIN. Go thru the automated speech again, get a live person who tries to do the little speech then hang up, interrupt her. Tell her I am getting upset - first TWO people hung up on me. She tells me she is sorry about that and will “try” to help me.

I explain AGAIN. Then I get the “if you payment is due on a holiday then you should have scheduled it to be withdrawn the day before” to which I respond “why send me a bill saying I have until the 18th to pay it when you are closed on the 18th and I really only have until the 15th” to which she comes back “if your due date was on a Sunday you would had to have paid it on a Friday” (bitch) then I point out “why do you all have payment due dates of Sunday and on holidays when you are CLOSED anyway?”

It just gets ugly at this point. I finally point blank ask her is she going to get the $39 written off and reduce my interest rate back. She just sits there for a LONG minute then asks if I am going to let her finish talking, and I ask is she going to answer my question. This turns into us asking the same questions to each other until I finally say “It is a yes or no question. Are you going to take care of all this?” She just gets rude and says she said she would help and was I going to give her my account number. I just hang up at this point.

I should have learned my lesson LAST YEAR when the bastards did that to me. This time, I do NOT feel like this is my fault. They could have had their money on the due date had they not chosen to take the day off. My bank was OPEN. OPEN!!!!!!

So, now I am scrambling to find a way to transfer the balance again, and when I do, I will be calling and telling them in no uncertain terms to CLOSE THE F’ING account to further charges and letting them know how I feel about their lame asses trying to rip people off after trying to come across like they are helping. Dirty rotten skanks. I HATE BANK OF AMERICA.
