Recent government action has dramatically increased the fees internet radio companies must pay to play the music you enjoy and threatens the future of internet radio. You can help, let your voice be heard.
As you all know (all 3 of my readers, lol), I have an XM Radio. Twice in the past week, I have heard Rod Stewart singing Fooled Around and Fell in Love.
Yes. Seriously. Almost as awful as his version of (I shudder thinking of it) Baby It’s Cold Outside that XM played at Christmas time. He did that with Dolly Parton. No shit. (shuddering)
I found the album on Amazon, it’s called Rod Stewart - Still the Same, Great Rock Classics of Our Time. Click the link and go check out the samples…it is really atrocious. As if messing up a classic from the 70’s isn’t enough, he butchers another of my favorite songs of all time (I’ll Stand By You by The Pretenders). Someone. Must. Stop. Him.
I’ve also been getting into Blossom Dearie. She is a great jazz singer and it appears most of her work came out in the 60’s. I found a profile for her on myspace, and had I’m Hip as my profile song for a week or so before myspace took it upon themselves to delete it from that profile. She has such a unique voice and you will probably remember her from Schoolhouse Rock (Unpack Your Adjectives and Figure Eight). View the rest of this entry…
This has got to be the weirdest spring I have seen in awhile.
It started getting warm a few weeks ago…then it turned back into winter, then to fall. I would say today would be fall because it is 47 degrees outside. We were supposed to have our city wide yard sale today and I planned on participating but…on top of being cold, it rained yesterday. I haven’t noticed if it has done more than sprinkle today but it is just cloudy and dreary. My daughter was supposed to have had a ball tournament which has been cancelled, so they are going to try to do it during the week at night next week - during Benchmark exams. I don’t think we will be playing any late games because of that. Idiots.
I am going to Eureka Springs in two weeks for a conference…I’m hoping that I can skip some legal ed sessions and do some sight seeing, because it is really pretty there. I would rather not be going at all - I am going to miss the Beale St. Music Festival which upsets me, because this year, John Legend is playing. And Wolfmother. And Corinne Bailey Rae. And Daughtry. Edwin McCain. The Ohio Players. View the rest of this entry…
well…I can’t seem to get in much of a mind to blog. I just don’t have a whole lot going on. It’s just work, getting kids to school and their activities, surviving my own one little extracurricular activity.
We had a scare last night - the kids dad was taking them to the dentist and they had a wreck on the way there. Everyone is okay! They did take the girl to the hospital because of some pain she was having, but the x-rays show everything is fine. It was the other driver’s fault and thank goodness, she has insurance.
Let me just throw in some advice for everyone out there…I know that sometimes, road rage hits a little bit of everyone. I know I don’t like it when someone is right on my ass when I’m driving. That is why I will either MOVE TO THE RIGHT (which is the lane you need to move to if someone wants to pass), or, if someone is in the right lane and I can’t move right over, I will speed up and get over. Just because I don’t like them on my ass. View the rest of this entry…
