I have made a discovery.

I love Emma Bunton.  YES, she was Baby Spice.  But I am loving her solo stuff, and I have XM Radio to thank for that.

I have Upop saved as one of my favorite stations, and some time last year I was cruising the stations and caught “Crickets Sing for Anamaria.”  Yea, the lyrics are kinda…monotonous.  But man, her voice, the music…it just makes you want to dance.  I couldn’t find the song streaming anywhere, but I found the video on youtube.  Go check it out and tell me you won’t dance.  I just watched it and I’m ready to dance!

So once again, earlier this week, I was cruising the stations and Upop was playing Emma Bunton again.  This time, it was a remake of Downtown.  Okay…I absolutely love this song!  Call me a geek or whatever, I don’t care…love it.  Have driven my kids crazy singing it.  This song is on her official myspace site, so go and listen.  Or hey, let’s watch it:

The lights are much brighter there, you can forget all your troubles…see, there I go.  I hear it and I break out in song.

some more free music…

Wanted to share this one fast before it disappears, because it is compliments of the 2006 SXSW Festival, so this one has been up since March of last year.  Go get it while you can:

Susan Tedeschi - Tired of My Tears

I was on her myspace page and decided it was time for me to listen to her new stuff and wow - it’s from this time last year but hey, still new.  What a great song.  So I did a search and found that download.  Get it, even if you’ve never listened to her, because you will want to after you listen to this song (I recommend It Hurt So Bad as your next ST listen).

my 80’s video playlist
Published by Christy on January 23rd, 2007 @ 8:55 pm

So I just recently over the past few months have gone on Youtube and have found a treasure trove of videos from the 1980’s, and I’ve put together a play list for those of you who are children of the 80’s.  My list may not be for everyone;  while there are a few of the more popular songs, I was on the look out for some obscure songs that didn’t necessarily chart really high.

So…if you’ve forgotten about that first Brian Setzer solo single, the debut of Toni Childs, the 80’s band called Face to Face (Laurie Sargent rocks), Nik Kershaw, Missing Persons (go check out that outfit Dale Bozzio is wearing in the Words video)…The Motels!  I adored Martha Davis.

Go check it out.  I’m sure you’ll see something you forgot that you knew.

well, maybe joining myspace and affiliating my blog along with my profile wasn’t such a good idea…I’ve gone and done a bonehead thing.  I created a group for alumni from my high school and invited a bunch of people, forgetting that I have links to my blog from it.

I really don’t want to change my ‘myspace’ profile to private.  I worked hard to make it pretty and I want the world to share in my vision!

Sigh.  I’m such a dumbass sometimes…some stuff here is just not for everyone.  Oh well.  We’ll just see what happens I suppose.

snobby musicians on myspace…
Published by Christy on January 15th, 2007 @ 7:23 am

I was just going to post this as a bulletin on myspace but thought here might be better.  Here goes:

You know who you are.  Maybe it isn’t the musicians themselves but whomever is running their ’space’.  You know, you put in a friend request and they won’t approve you OR you submit a comment and they don’t approve it.  Would it kill any of you to go out and leave some fans some comments instead of a select few (notably the women with big boobs)????  No, I don’t expect that you necessarily have time for that, not the musicians themselves if they actually run their space but c’mon…if you are a webmaster, I would think you could make a little time.

When you see your friend number count or your friend request number drop, and want to know why, well…now you know.

Get over yourselves.  Without us there would be no you.  View the rest of this entry…
