well, it is officially New Year’s Eve here, so I’ve got a few songs for you for the occasion (get them while you can):
Dan Fogelberg - Same Old Lang Syne. This gets played a lot at Christmas but I remember (vaguely) when this song came out, which was not at Christmas. At any rate, this is a good “story song.”
Seasons of Love from “Rent.” This is the movie version. Some might think me awful out there, but I think this song should be the new auld lang syne for our generation. The lyrics speak of things that happen in 525,600 minutes. I love this song.
Brian Setzer Orchestra - What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve. On the newest Christmas CD (Dig That Crazy Christmas). Do you honestly think I wouldn’t get one BSO song in? Of course not! He sings this as a duet with his wife, Julie.

I was working on a little project tonight and I turned the TV on NBC. I wasn’t sure if My Name Is Earl would be on (though I knew it would be a rerun), but I thought…who knows?
And it did come on! Five minutes ago. Last year’s Christmas episode that I missed (so I have the whole first season on DVD, but I haven’t finished it yet). And what was playing at the beginning of the show??

Who do I love more…Earl, or Brian? That is hard to say at this point. I have tried really hard to utilize Earl’s thinking about karma in my own life lately, but having PMS this week has really screwed the karma thing for me up. At any rate, Earl is trying hard to be good, and so am I. But Brian? He’s a cool cat. And dig that hair. He can sing, play guitar…and he puts on an awesome show.
I could not possibly pick between the two. Sigh.
